Why work with a supervisor? I believe that my clients feel that its an additional resource to be called upon, and acknowledgement that I’m human, same as client. An acknowledgement that I may not have all the answers, and there's someone else that can be called upon.
I used to think it was enough to speak with one of my coach buddies if I needed to debrief from a coaching session. Having now worked with CSA in formal coaching supervision, I have seen that that was really only a quick fix.
Sharing the challenges that arise from a coaching session created a huge amount of opportunity. This is not to just repair or grow the client relationship, but more importantly for the future of that or any other relationship – it grows the coach.
