Laurence Borde


Laurence is an experienced multi-cultural Leadership Coach and Coach Supervisor. She coaches CEOs, CFOs, senior professionals and high performing Managers in their promotions and transitions. Her clients are typically being asked to step up in their organisations, having to deliver a lot with little resources, often in multi-cultural/multinational contexts and/or with partially de-localised teams. She enjoys helping leaders on-board new positions successfully, and fast trackers achieve their potential, and she challenges assumptions they and their teams might hold. She is also known for bringing out strong impact and influencing skills in both individuals and teams. Laurence has experience of large international organisations and has worked and lived across the globe. She was elected to the World Economic Forum Young Global Leaders in Davos and enjoys working with her clients on a wide range of leadership themes.

Background and coaching experience
Laurence works primarily with Board, C-Suite and with senior leadership of fast-paced, ever-changing organisations with high levels of pressure and attention to results. For decades now, her expertise has been called upon notably in the context of high-profile transactions, or where the organisation is undergoing profound changes. She has worked in countries around the world with global organisations in systems of a certain complexity. Laurence is a serial entrepreneur. Prior to founding her coaching practice, she created and ran her own international communication and live events agency, Mediatree, which she built into a global group and is now an established leader worldwide in the field of institutional communication. She has firsthand experience of re-locating and adapting to new cultures, as over the years she set up and ran her Hong Kong and subsequently Tokyo and Sydney offices. She still serves as Chairman of the Mediatree group. Before that, Laurence worked in the Financial Markets. She spent 10 years as an Equity Capital Markets banker in New York, Paris and London, setting up a European ECM bookrunner into number 1 position for a large international bank in 5 years from scratch.

Coaching approach
Laurence is an ICF-accredited coach (PCC) (and was a Director on the Board of the UK ICF), using, amongst other methodologies, techniques based on the latest discoveries in neuroscience developed into coaching tools by David Rock, the founder of the NeuroLeadership Institute and Andy Habermacher founder of the SCOAP brain-based theories.

Laurence’s approach is focused foremost on achieving results whilst providing a dedicated, highly supportive thinking environment to her clients. Her style is energetic - a mix of being to the point and offering an important degree of empathy and sensitivity. Her 30- year track-record of successfully working with clients at various levels in the organisations she meets, and across multiple countries and cultures means that she is comfortable providing constructive and honest feedback as well as the stretch that helps achieve breakthroughs, including at the top levels of a hierarchy.

Laurence’s current clients are mainly in UK, France and the rest of Europe. She has worked extensively in Asia, Russia, the Middle East and Africa both face to face and remotely. She has great experience working with executives in financial institutions (and is financially literate), matrix organisations as well as with entrepreneurs and corporates across a range of sectors. In particular, Laurence works well with leaders who work in high-pressured, ever-changing environments and are expected to deliver results in short time periods.
